Choose a base map
Choose Satellite for a clean photographic view, Hybrid for imagery with map context, or Topo for terrain-focused cartography. Optional layers sit above the selected map.
Choose a basemap and view mode in Map & terrain. The selected imagery source remains a separate preference. - 02
Switch to 3D terrain
Open the 2D / 3D control and select 3D. Move, zoom and rotate the map to compare slopes and valleys. Return to 2D when you want a straight-down view.
- 03
Adjust the relief for readability
Use the displayed relief multiplier when you want subtle terrain to stand out. This changes the visual height of the terrain, not the underlying elevations, distances or slope data.
Terrain relief changes the visual height. True scale, Enhanced and Dramatic do not change real elevations or measurements.Map attribution retained: Mapbox. - 04
Keep a useful amount of context
Turn Roads & Trails on when you need road and path labels. Use Hybrid and the water layers to compare the surrounding waterways. Source detail and imagery dates vary by location.
