Maps & GPS

Bring waypoints from another app or export your map data

Preview coordinates, notes, colors, and camera markers before importing.

  1. In your old mapping app, export the actual GPX or KML file, not a sharing link or screenshot. GPX works well for tracks and GPS devices; KML preserves standard map styles and filled area shapes. VENATRIQ also reads KMZ, GeoJSON and coordinate CSV files.
  2. In VENATRIQ open the menu, then App Preferences and Map Data Transfer. Choose Import, select the file, and expand Notes and appearance to review colors and text. Use the camera button to correct a camera marker before confirming.
  3. Review any import warnings. Files are limited to 10 MB, 5,000 objects and 50,000 coordinates. Areas containing holes are skipped rather than incorrectly filling excluded land. Disconnected track segments stay separate.
  4. Confirm the selected items. They enter your private field library and sync to your signed-in account. Wait for saving to finish, and use Retry save if a warning appears before closing the page. Re-importing the same named objects at the same locations skips duplicates without overwriting your edits.
  5. Use Export to download everything, pins only, or a chosen collection. KML includes standard colors; GPX waypoint colors depend on the receiving app. CSV contains pins only. Some apps limit file sizes, so choose smaller collections when needed.

Other apps may omit notes, colors, icons or photos from their files. Missing information cannot be recovered. Unknown marker types and custom text fields are retained in notes where supplied. Photos, permissions, group sharing, hunt-plan analysis and accounts are not transferred. Keep the original export until you verify the imported data. These are format-based transfers, not linked vendor accounts.

Hunt Intel

Import trail-camera photos for private planning

Your existing camera pins and new imports live in one private library.

  1. Open the app menu, expand Field library, then choose Trail Cameras. Add a camera with its actual coordinates and brand, or open an existing trail-camera pin.
  2. Save images from your camera provider or SD card, then use Import photos. Import up to six at a time. Enter actual capture times in the displayed timezone, or leave them unknown. Do not use file-download time as capture time.
  3. In the camera's Camera section, enable Use this camera's photos in Hunt Intel if desired. Private AI evidence in account Privacy & Security must also be on, and your plan must permit Hunt Intel generation.
  4. When you generate a nearby plan, up to three recent dated photos from different cameras within two miles can support analysis. Unknown-date and older-than-30-day photos remain in the gallery but are excluded.
  5. Use Camera to edit coordinates or remove the camera. Removing a camera keeps its photos in Field Album. Open a photo to correct its capture time or delete it.

Automatic provider syncing is not connected. Brand selection organizes manual imports; it does not log in to Muddy, Command, or another provider. Never supply provider passwords here. Images are historical, not live animal positions, and local camera-use rules still apply.

Getting started

Set up your account and open the map

One account for the website and the field app.

  1. Create an account or sign in using your existing email, Google, or Apple sign-in.
  2. Complete any email verification and package selection shown on your account. Available tools depend on your membership.
  3. Choose Open app to enter the map. Use Layers for imagery and overlays, Tools for map actions, and Hunt Intel for planning.

Maps & GPS

Keep your location live without snapping the map back

Live GPS and camera follow are separate controls.

  1. Allow precise location for your browser in your device settings, then tap the location control on the map.
  2. Drag or zoom the map to browse elsewhere. Your location can continue updating while camera follow is paused.
  3. Tap the location control again when you want to return to your position. Check the reported accuracy before relying on a fix.

A mobile browser may pause GPS when the screen is locked or the app is in the background. Keep VENATRIQ visible during live navigation; updates also depend on device permission and signal.

Maps & GPS

Show the direction your phone is facing

Understand heading permissions and GPS course.

  1. Tap the live-location control and accept a motion or orientation permission prompt if your browser presents one.
  2. The heading marker uses available device direction; movement can provide a GPS course when compass data is unavailable.
  3. Move away from strong magnets or metal interference. A stationary phone without compass permission may not show a reliable direction.

GPS course is the direction of travel, not necessarily where your phone points. Use an independent compass when precision is critical.

Maps & GPS

Understand satellite, aerial history, and LiDAR

Imagery and terrain have different coverage and loading behavior.

  1. Choose one base imagery source in Layers. Optional overlays add information on top of it.
  2. Use aerial history to inspect available earlier imagery. Coverage, capture year, and native resolution vary by location.
  3. LiDAR is a terrain view, not a live aerial photograph. Let the view settle after moving; a layer status describes coverage or loading problems.

Zooming past the source's native resolution cannot reveal additional detail. No imagery layer guarantees current conditions or legal access.

Maps & GPS

Finish a boundary, route, or measurement

Use the active-tool controls before starting something else.

  1. Open Tools and choose your drawing or measurement tool, then place points on the map.
  2. Use the on-map finish/save control when the shape or route is complete. Use undo or cancel to revise or abandon the current drawing.
  3. Give saved items a useful name and review them in your Field Locker. Check whether you are in private-pin or shared-pin mode before placing a pin.
Group Hunt

See a teammate's live location

Both hunters must be in the same active hunt; each person chooses whether to share.

  1. Open Group and select the same hunt room. Accept the invitation and confirm the organizer has started the hunt.
  2. Open Hunt > Your field settings. Each hunter who wants to be visible taps Share location and allows precise GPS. Viewing teammates does not require sharing your own location.
  3. Open the map. The Group Hunt layer shows received locations and shared pins. If you previously hid it, enable Group Hunt in Layers.
  4. Check Recent GPS, Waiting for GPS, or Location may be stale on each hunter card. Activity (such as At stand) is separate from GPS and connection health. Keep the app visible and connected; an older position is not proof of where someone is now.

Turning sharing off removes your location from that hunt. VENATRIQ is not an emergency locator.

Group Hunt

Share a pin with the hunt, not your whole Field Locker

Private pins and group pins are intentionally separate.

  1. In an active Group Hunt, choose Team pins in the map card or under Hunt > New map pins. You can close the map card and change the setting inside Group Hunt anytime.
  2. Place the pin, then review the hunt name, exact coordinates and note. Uncheck Include the pin note to keep those details private. Nothing is shared until you choose Share pin.
  3. Choose Private pins before returning to personal pin placement. Choosing the audience does not clear an in-progress pin or change existing pins and GPS sharing.
  4. Tap your pin on the map, or open Hunt > Shared pins, and choose Edit pin to update its name, notes, color or exact location. Only its author can edit it. Teammates use a person symbol and name, not a saved waypoint symbol.

Available collaboration tools depend on membership. Organizers retain removal tools for moderation, not permission to edit other hunters' pins. Editing or removing a group copy does not change private copies others saved.

Group Hunt

Ask your hunt group for help

Send a visible in-app alert, not just a chat message.

  1. In an active hunt, enable location sharing, then choose Need help and review the confirmation.
  2. Other active members receive a pop-up when their open, connected app checks the alert inbox. It works outside the Group tab and with the Group Hunt map layer hidden.
  3. Choose Open hunt to coordinate and check the latest shared location, or Dismiss to clear the alert only for your account. Opening chat alone does not dismiss it.

This does not contact emergency services or send lock-screen push notifications. Polling, signal and foreground app state affect delivery; it is not a substitute for emergency communications. Unread alerts are eligible for 24 hours while the hunt and membership remain active. Dismissing is not an acknowledgement that help is on the way.

Group Hunt

Reconnect a hunt on cellular data

What to do when a room says reconnecting or a position stops moving.

  1. Check that both phones have service and the same active hunt selected.
  2. Bring VENATRIQ back to the foreground and review location permissions. The room refreshes when connectivity returns.
  3. Check location update times, not just whether a pin is present. If an issue persists, report the time, browser, and steps without sharing private coordinates.

Live location is near-real-time, not instant. Poor coverage, background suspension, and GPS accuracy can delay updates.

Hunt Intel

Generate and review a hunt plan

Give the planner useful context and verify recommendations in the field.

  1. Choose the area to analyze, then open Hunt Intel and confirm species, weapon, range, and hunting period.
  2. Add relevant observations in the optional notes. Follow the progress explanation while map and environmental evidence are analyzed.
  3. Review confidence, cautions, and suggested setups. Open the plan on the map and use field feedback to improve your own saved context.

Food, bedding, and thermal-cover areas are evidence-based possibilities, not confirmed animal locations. Missing layers or weak evidence may mean an area is not drawn.

Hunt Intel

Check your Hunt Intel allowance

See usage and access before starting an analysis.

  1. Open Account and review your current membership and usage.
  2. Chat and complete hunt plans have separate allowances. Limits depend on the selected package and server-recorded usage period.
  3. If access looks wrong after payment or an invitation, refresh your account and confirm you signed in with the intended identity.

Recover access or find a missing verification code

Use the same identity you originally registered.

  1. Choose Forgot password on the sign-in screen and enter the email associated with your account.
  2. Check spam, junk, and blocked-sender folders. Request a new code if needed and use the most recent message.
  3. If you originally used Google or Apple, try that same sign-in method. Apple Hide My Email can mean your account uses a relay address.
  4. Contact Support with your account email and the approximate request time if the message still does not arrive. Never send your password or verification code.

Manage membership and complimentary access

Review the package attached to your account.

  1. Open Account, then Membership to review current access and available billing controls.
  2. Use the provided billing portal for payment methods or subscription management. Deleting app files or signing out does not cancel billing.
  3. Field-test invitations are issued by the VENATRIQ founder. Follow your invitation to finish activation; do not create a second account unless instructed.

Privacy & data

Export data or start fresh with AI memory

Review reset scopes before confirming a deletion.

  1. Open Account, then Security and data for account export and AI-memory controls.
  2. Read the confirmation carefully: clearing AI memory is different from deleting your entire account or a saved property.
  3. Use Property Brain's property-specific controls when you only want to reset one property. Keep a data export before irreversible changes.

Choose which emails you receive

Control optional updates in your profile.

  1. Open Account, then Privacy and notifications to manage available email preferences.
  2. Use the unsubscribe link in optional marketing emails to opt out of promotional messages.
  3. Essential security, verification, recovery, billing, and required account notices are separate from optional marketing.
